AVAILABLE SERVICES

Who Do I Work With?

I have a particular interest in working with those who may have experienced trauma and/or abuse, as well as those who are seeking a space to understand and explore themselves.

I also have experience of working with many different groups, individuals and issues such as -

  • Individuals who care for a dependant or family member

  • Grief and bereavement

  • Family issues

  • Self-esteem issues

  • Cultural conflicts

  • Race and discrimination

  • Gender related issues

  • Individuals with Autism and ADHD

  • Relationship problems

  • Women's issues

  • Intergenerational trauma

  • Child abuse and trauma

  • and more

Though I may attract specific demographics and issues, my services are not limited to these areas. I have a strong interest in supporting all kinds of people with their life experiences and I am fully equipped and qualified to support you no matter what you may be going through.

This is why I offer a free 30-minute consultation. It gives us a chance to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and I can tell you more about the way I work. If you would like to speak to me, you can use the contact form on my website to inquire about booking a session or a consultation.

Group Facilitator

I also have 3 years of experience working as a group facilitator at University of Nottingham. I have supported trainee therapists on the MA Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice course during these groups and have experience of both facilitating my own group, as well as co-facilitating alongside another facilitator.

My facilitation style is rooted in the person-centred approach and places a belief and trust in the groups process and the groups ability to self-direct. These group processes are often referred to as encounter groups and are typically non-directive in nature and used as a way to develop self-awareness and connection with others.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in a humanistic and experiential way of being that prioritises encountering you from your inner worldview and deeply understanding the unique layers and intersections of your whole identity.

I specialise in Person-Centred Therapy and operate from the belief that creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space with someone who is genuinely interested in you, will help you to unravel and explore your own thoughts, feelings and experiences from a deeper place.

I work in a non-directive way allowing you to have the power and control over your sessions and what you want to explore. This means that you have the freedom to work at your own pace, exploring things based on your needs in the moment and when you feel comfortable and ready.

Sometimes there are parts of our Self that are just too painful or difficult to face alone, but when we work together in a space where you feel truly heard, accepted and understood, you start to understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels more authentic and aligned with who you are and what you have gone through.

My interests in therapy are often influenced by my own experiences and I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and creating an inclusive environment for all groups of people. I believe in providing inclusive, high-quality psychotherapy rooted in social justice and authentic human connection. I embody this in my therapeutic work by being aware of power dynamics and social structures and inequalities that exist outside of the therapy room and how these can affect us as individuals on our own process.

I approach therapy from a wider socio-cultural perspective, understanding that often the issues we face as individual's and groups are not the fault or cause of our own behaviour or choices, but rather the impact of wider social, political and cultural influences. To ensure my commitment to anti-oppressive practices in therapy, I am a member of Therapist In Kind (TiK), a Nottingham based collective dedicated to providing inclusive therapy.

What To Expect

Working with me, therapy will be a process where you are at the centre of each session. We will work collaboratively to explore your experiences and the things that may have brought you to therapy.

My role within the relationship is to help you to piece together your experiences and feelings so that you can feel like you have a better understanding of your experiences and who you are.

We do this by creating a space for you where you can dissect and connect your thoughts and feelings in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

I will be helping you to reflect on your thoughts, attitudes and beliefs in an accepting way to help you develop a stronger sense of Self and feel more truly aligned and connected with how you actually feel.

01.

Free 30-minute Consultation

This is where we discuss your needs and the type of therapy offered to see if we are a good fit. If you decide you want to start therapy, a therapy contract will be emailed to you for you to read and sign.

02.

Intake Session

Once you have signed your therapy contract and we have agreed on a regular session slot, your first session will be used to understand more about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process.

03.

Ongoing therapeutic process

After the intake session, you are in charge of the direction of each session and what you would like to explore. The therapeutic process is fluid and open-ended meaning you can continue sessions for as long as you need, and stop whenever it feels right for you.

Your Space

Therapy gives you a space dedicated to you so you can feel understood, held and supported.

Reduce shame

Therapy is a non-judgemental environment encouraging you to not judge yourself and reduce feelings of shame, blame, and guilt.

Personal Power

Therapy will help you to recognise and own your power and control. Acknowledging and recognising the power and tools you already have within you, will help you to feel more in control of your life, set healthier boundaries, and make choices that feel more authentic to you.

Validation

Your emotions and experiences will be accepted as they are. This will help you to understand what you're experiencing and offer you validation to support healing and acceptance in yourself.

Connect with yourself

Therapy allows you to connect with your Self and your experiences to help you feel more authentic and aligned.

Deep understanding

Therapy offers you the chance to be deeply and empathically understood from your perspective helping you to feel more connected to yourself and others.

How It Can Help You

Experiencing these conditions in a safe and supportive environment will help you to feel unburdened, accepted and listened to.

When you feel that your worldview is acknowledged, it encourages a process of self-acceptance, enabling you to align closely with your needs, feel less overwhelmed, establish healthy boundaries, and thrive.

Being genuinely understood can empower you to recognize your true self. This journey of self-acceptance can lessen feelings of shame or inner conflict and help you to understand your life as a journey, rather than a destination to be reached.

You might begin to view yourself differently and perceive your life experiences from a new angle. This shift in perspective and awareness can facilitate a deeper connection with yourself, help you to process past experiences, explore new ways of coping, and appreciate life as an ongoing experience.

Use Your Voice

Use Your Voice.

You have been blessed with a mind,

No one else has.

Something that is

Unique to you,

Just as

Those thoughts and feelings,

And

Pains and healings.

Use your voice.

Let yourself be heard,

Whether you scream or rejoice.

Every word

Deserves to be affirmed.

Let your expression

Stir and spin,

Deep within

The spin of the wind,

To peel back and free

The thick of your skin.

Let your observations,

Be unapologetic declarations,

Claiming no expectations,

And all aspirations.

Use your voice.

To grasp your will,

And truly fulfil,

All your desires and skills.
